Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso and LA Sparks guard Lexie Brown have been supporting college player Raven Johnson. The two WNBA players commented on Saturday about the South Carolina Gamecocks’ player when she posted some courtside snaps on her Instagram account.
Cardoso and Brown lauded Johnson for her look in the snaps, which appear to be in the South Carolina arena. Johnson was wearing jorts, a white baby tee, a white jacket and white shoes to pair with her shoulder bag. In one of the photos, she was also wearing shades.
"If pretty was a person ❤️," Johnson captioned.
Cardoso just used emojis to show adoration to Johnson's snaps.
“😍😍😍😍,” Cardoso wrote.
Meanwhile, Brown specifically complimented the shoes, which stood out in the outfit.
“the shoesssss 😮💨😮💨😮💨,” Brown said.
Cardoso was a teammate of Raven Johnson when the Sky player was still in South Carolina. The two led the Gamecocks to the national title in 2024, beating the Caitlin Clark-led Iowa Hawkeyes in the championship game.
The six-foot-seven center was selected by the Chicago Sky as the third overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft after she exhausted her playing eligibility with South Carolina. The team then paired her with seventh overall pick Angel Reese, who finished as the runner-up in the Rookie of the Year race behind Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark.
Meanwhile, Lexie Brown had a promising start last season, but her year was cut short once more due to Crohn's disease last June.
In her 16 games last season, Brown averaged 8.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for the Sparks, which finished the season with an 8-32 win-loss record, the worst in the WNBA.
Cardoso, on the other hand, normed 9.8 ppg and 7.9 rpg for the Sky. She is now playing the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) with Shanghai for the ongoing offseason.
Kamilla Cardoso and Raven Johnson consider each other best friends
Kamilla Cardoso and Raven Johnson have strong bonds built from years of playing together in South Carolina. Last year, Johnson recalled how the two helped each other throughout college, especially when Cardoso, a Brazilian native, was still new in the United States.
"I remember when she first got here she was looking at all the players like we were weird. She didn't know a lick of English. I remember walking toward her and she didn't know nothing I was saying and I had to realize that so I was using my phone to talk to her," Johnson said.
"Kamilla's my best friend on and off the court. This will mean a lot to her. There's no better way than winning this for her and her leaving on a good note," Johnson added.
Raven Johnson could join Cardoso and Brown in the WNBA as she is draft-eligible this year.
