Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese had a night to forget on Friday against Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever. Reese failed to make an impact on either end of the court, as the Sky suffered a demoralizing 100-81 loss at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

In addition to her shooting struggles, Reese uncharacteristically faltered in rebounding, a facet of the game she has excelled at all season. The former LSU star managed just four points, five rebounds and one assist in the first half, shooting 2-of-5 from the field.

Reese's struggles persisted after the halftime break, as she managed only one point in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Sky rookie scored five points and notched her 23rd double-double of the season.

Reese concluded the game with 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor, including 0-of-1 from beyond the arc. The rookie collected 11 rebounds, two of which came on the offensive end. She struggled at the free throw line, making just two of five attempts.

She also contributed two assists, one steal, and had four turnovers. Reese finished the game with a plus/minus of -7 after playing 31:51 minutes.

Fans react to Angel Reese's underwhelming performance

Hoops fans criticized Angel Reese for falling short in a marquee matchup against her rival Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. One fan bluntly described Reese's double-double as "meaningless":

"Sky left Reese in down 30 with 3 mins left so she could get to 10 points it’s laughable how meaningless Reese has made the double double."

Another fan highlighted Reese's poor shooting in the paint and claimed that she is not in contention for the Rookie of the Year award:

"It was never a race. Media tried to make it seem "close", but anyone who watched Angel Reese play.. always knew better. It wasn't even close Reese shooting 47% in the paint. Horrendous finisher. But she gets the ball back and misses again. Empty rebounding stats."
"Angel had to stay in till the last minutes to statpad to the double while Caitlin was already in the plane to go home," commented another fan.

Following the loss to Indiana, the Chicago Sky's record fell to 11-20, but they still hold onto the eighth spot in the league standings.
