Angel Reese looked her usual self after posting yet another double-double stat line in the Chicago Sky's blowout 85-65 loss to the Phoenix Mercury at Wintrust Arena on Thursday. Her 11 points and 15 rebounds saw her notch up her fifth double-double in six games, taking her total record to 17 in her maiden WNBA season.
Reese ended her evening with 11 points on 4-for-14 shooting from the field, and none from deep. She added one assist, two steals and a block. The rookie didn't see much help coming her way as Chicago struggled on offense.
Dana Evans came off the bench to post a team-high 14 points, while Kamilla Cardoso had 10 points and five rebounds. The loss keeps the Sky in eighth place in the overall WNBA standings with a 10-15 record as Angel Reese and Co. look to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Angel Reese NBA 2K25 ratings revealed
It has been a scintillating WNBA debut for the former LSU standout, and the rookie All-Star had more than favorable ratings on the new NBA 2K25 game. The Sky star and rival rookie Caitlin Clark both had 90 overall ratings.
Other rookies with solid ratings include Reese's Sky teammate Cardoso with 80, while the LA Sparks rookie duo of Rickea Jackson and Cameron Brink had 80 to show for as well.
Reese has averaged a double-double of 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per contest on 40.2% shooting from the field so far this season. Before the break, she ended her double-double streak at 15 games – a WNBA record – after surpassing the previously held record of nine games by Candace Parker.
On the season front, Reese and the Chicago Sky look to make a playoff dash after trailing the seventh-placed Indiana Fever. Chicago hits the road for their next three games, taking on the LA Sparks, followed by another skirmish with the Mercury before facing the Connecticut Sun.
