Angel Reese Stats Tonight: Sky rookie props up double-double as Sky edge Aces in thriller

Angel Reese had a quiet first three quarters of the game, before putting up some numbers in the final stretch as the Chicago Sky pulled off a thrilling 93-85 win over the Las Vegas Aces at the Michelob Ultra Arena on Tuesday (July 16). Reese ended her evening with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists in 35 minutes of action to add another double-double to her tally.

That said, it wasn't the most fluent one as she struggled on offense. The rookie shot 4-10 from the field and 0-0 from beyond the arc and was in single digits before rediscovering her mojo in the fourth quarter as the Sky started putting some distance between them and Las Vegas.

The Sky owe their win to Chennedy Carter as the guard torched the Aces with 34 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Marina Mabrey added 15 points to the overall score and four assists.

A'ja Wilson continued her dominant run for the Aces with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Kelsey Plum had a quiet day with just eight points while Jackie Young chipped in with 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists. The win sees Angel Reese and the Sky improve to 10-14 this season as they continue to look for a playoff berth.

South Carolina Women's head coach backs Angel Reese to win 'Rookie of the Year'

Dawn Staley has carved a name for herself as one of the most impressive and influential women's basketball head coaches. She gave her honest opinion when she picked Angel Reese as the front-runner to win the 2024 Rookie of the Year honors. She mentioned to TMZ Sports earlier that the Chicago Sky forward would emerge victorious.

At this time—today—it's Angel. Without a doubt."

Staley also factored Reese's double-double streak that went to 15 games, before it was snapped in the close loss against the New York Liberty. The former LSU star has already surpassed expectations in her maiden WNBA season averaging 13.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals.

The other player in contention is Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 pick of the 2024 Draft class and there has been an argument that the former Iowa Hawkeyes guard has been instrumental in getting the Fever from dire straits to a potential playoff position. Safe to say, the debate between the two gunning for ROTY will make headlines in the days to come.
