WNBA rookie Angel Reese and Hershey's are reportedly in talks for a partnership deal following a viral exchange on social media recently. The WNBA rookie and former LSU star is a big fan of Hershey's Reese's candy and has even gone so far as to have a custom pair of shoes designed featuring the Reese's logo. On social media, Reese had a viral exchange with the Reese's account last month.
In a post, she jokingly called out the company, rhetorically asking where they were. The brand responded with an image of a Reese's piece wearing the Chicago Sky standout's signature headband, while calling her their favorite player.
A report emerged from TMZ Sports, in which a Hershey's spokesperson teased a potential deal. That exchange took place late last month, but, now, Angel Reese has teased a deal between her and the Reese's brand, once again calling her fans Reese's Pieces.
On Thursday, Jul. 4, amid an off day for Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, the Rookie of the Year contender took to social media:
"Goodmorning to the Reese’s Pieces and the Reese’s Pieces onlyyyyyy"
Fans, of course, were quick to respond, reposting the image of a Reese's piece wearing Reese's signature headband and other images of the company's logo. While there has been no further word from Hershey's on the deal, the post has fueled more talk of a potential collab between the two sides.
"I'm just so happy" - Angel Reese reacts to being named to WNBA All-Star team
A potential deal with Reese's isn't the only reason Angel Reese is celebrating these days. The Chicago Sky rookie also found out this week that she had been named a WNBA All-Star.
On Tuesday, following a big win over the Atlanta Dream, where Reese logged her 11th straight double-double with 12 points and 19 rebounds, she was told that she was named an All-Star.
Speaking to media members she became emotional, opening up on what being named an All-Star means to her this early in her career:
"We won today, but they just told me I'm an All-Star, and I mean. I'm just so happy. I know the work I put in.
"Coming into this league, so many people doubted me and didn't think my game would translate. ... I trusted the process, and I believed. I'm thankful that I dropped to seven and was able to come to Chicago,"
This year, the WNBA All-Star game will take on a different format. Given that the event will also begin the league's Olympic break, the WNBA All-Stars will be competing against the Team USA team as they prepare for the Olympics.
For Reese, it means she and fellow rookie star Caitlin Clark will be teaming up for the first time as they look to upset the US Women's National Team.
