Angel Reese hyped as coach Yolett McCuin backs her media game & transition to pros

WNBA young star Angel Reese is having a rocky transition from college to the pros, but she seems to be doing fine amid the criticism. The Chicago Sky's forward has been on the receiving end of criticism almost since the start of the 2024 WNBA season but has also found support from notable people.

Ole Miss women's basketball team head coach Yolett McCuin praised Reese on social media today, lauding her transition from college to the pros regarding media relationships.

"I hope young thunderkittens are taking notes from Angel Reese in media relations! Angel is handling her transition like a pro! 🤯 Whomever is on her team is elite! And I love it for her!" McCuin wrote on Twitter.

Reese took notice of these comments and didn't hesitate to show her appreciation to the coach, sending her a three-word message on the same social media.

"Appreciate you OG!" Reese quote-tweeted McCuin's message a couple of hours later.

Ever since her college days, Reese was the subject of criticism, but she never shied away from that. After her last game with LSU, she pointed out all the criticism she received during her time in college, which seemingly helped her in the transition to the WNBA.

She's still young and a rookie in the league, but Reese is handling herself in the best possible way, even when she needs to defend herself against criticism. The No. 7 overall pick in this year's draft keeps getting support from big names, including one of the biggest legends in NBA history.

Magic Johnson compares Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark rivalry to legendary NBA feud

LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson found a unique comparison to the feud brewing between Angel Reese and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. The five-time NBA champion likened this rivalry to the one he had with Larry Bird during the 80s in the association.

"I like it, and they are [the Larry Bird and Magic Johnson of the WNBA]," Johnson said on Thursday's edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live. (around 4:30 mark)

Angel Reese has fueled this rivalry with recent comments and actions toward Clark. She seemingly took a shot at the Fever's guard a couple of weeks ago after beating the New York Liberty as visitors.

More recently, she seemed to celebrate Chennedy Carter pushing Clark in the back on Saturday. Reese has admitted she's embracing the villain role in the league if that means helping her teammates become successful.
