The reeling Atlanta Dream will face the Connecticut Sun for the second time this season on Friday. Atlanta, which lost 69-50 in the previous encounter, will be looking for some payback in the rematch. Getting the job done will be a tall task for the Dream, who will not have two-time All-Star Rhyne Howard.

The Sun has struggled in their last three games, going just 1-2 during that stretch. They lost in back-to-back games to the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm before eking out a 94-91 overtime win on Thursday in Washington. DeWanna Bonner and Co. will be hoping to start a new streak in their second showdown with the Dream.

Atlanta Dream vs Connecticut Sun: Game preview

In the first game between the Dream and Sun, Atlanta played one poor quarter and could not recover. Their opponents are second in the WNBA in defensive rating, so they know what to expect. They have to move the ball well and with more precision, particularly without Howard. The Dream could end up with another blowout loss if they can’t do those.

In the loss to the Aces and the Storm, Connecticut was beaten on the boards and points in the paint. During their 13-1 run to start the season, rebounding and inside scoring were big factors working in their favor. If they can dominate in those areas against Atlanta, the Sun is likely to win its second straight game.

Atlanta Dream vs Connecticut Sun: Prediction

The Dream will be without its best scorer and second-best rebounder in Rhyne Howard’s absence. Against the Sun’s usually unforgiving defense and balanced attack, the disadvantages will likely be too much to overcome.

Connecticut could run away with the victory and beat the +8.5 spread of the visitors.
