A few days ago, Lexie Hull and Caitlin Clark tasted beverages at a local spot while enjoying their offseason. After the Indiana Fever were swept by the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the playoffs, the teammates decided to do something different and playfully competed to see who had chosen the better beverages.
As the video of the Fever teammates ranking the beverages went viral on social media, Ken Swift, an X (formerly Twitter) user, was reminded of Clark’s relentless drive to outdo everyone even during her college days. He posted a video of the point guard with some of her former Iowa teammates, including Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin, making pizzas in Italy.
When the pizzas were ready for grading, Martin gave her evaluation of the culinary works of her teammates. She gave Caitlin Clark, the Hawkeyes superstar, an A-minus.
A livid Clark couldn’t believe Martin’s rating and insisted:
“A+! A++!”
The NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer didn’t just stop there. She went over to Kate Martin’s work and emphatically declared:
“Big fat F! F! F!”
Martin continued to tease Clark by saying that her work was the best, giving it a grade of "A-plus-plus-plus." She claimed that the “symmetry” and the perfect use of ingredients made her pizza superior to everyone else's.
Christie Sides claims Caitlin Clark’s competitiveness is on the same level as the greatest basketball players
Caitlin Clark’s competitiveness didn’t diminish when she entered the WNBA. Fever coach Christie Sides, in an episode of the Indiana Fever All Access, remarked on Clark’s fire:
"When you talk about greats in this game, the Michael Jordan's and the Kobe Bryant's and the Steph Curry's, they are putting her in that category," she said (4:37 mark).
Clark echoed the same sentiment in the same video:
"One of the biggest things I've tried to bring to this team is just that fire, that competitive spirit. I think it affects every single person around me and it makes them go a little more too" (4:00 mark).
Clark led the Fever to their first postseason appearance since 2016, although they lost the the Connecticut Sun in two games in the first round.
