The New York Liberty topped the Minnesota Lynx in the 2024 WNBA Finals, winning the series 3-2. The Liberty won their first championship in the organization's history.
The Liberty held its championship parade on Thursday morning, with team floats traveling throughout Brooklyn and New York City. For many Liberty players, this is their first time experiencing a championship parade.
For Brenna Stewart, Thursday was her third time participating in a WNBA championship parade (2018 and 2020 with the Storm, 2024). Ahead of the parade, Stewart shared a hilarious request for Liberty fans on X.
"Who can hand a bottle of red wine to me when my float passes by??" Stewart posted on X.
Breanna Stewart added another accolade to her crowded resume with her third WNBA championship. Three championships make Stewart tied for the third-most in WNBA history.
The two-time MVP is a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer with two MVP awards, six All-Star appearances, seven All-WNBA nods, six All-Defensive nods and a scoring title.
Breanna Stewart gets her wish
At roughly 11:20 a.m. ET, Breanna Stewart got her wish during the championship parade when a fan gifted Stewart what seemed to be the bottle of wine she asked for. Stewart was interacting with fans and giving high-fives when a fan in the crowd stuck out the bottle as the three-time champ lit up with excitement. With a smile, Stewart accepted the bottle, thanked the fan and gave him a high-five.
The parade was broadcast on NBA TV and caught the moment when Stewart received the bottle.
Breanna Stewart played a crucial role in helping the Liberty to the first championship in team history. In the five finals games, Stewart averaged 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.4 steals and 2.2 blocks.
