Breanna Stewart's New York Liberty teammate Jonquel Jones is in the Bahamas. With nature's aesthetics surrounding the Liberty star, a few posts on TikTok would have been a proper justice. However, the WNBA star was left with the app in complete black mode.
On Saturday, Breanna Stewart's Liberty teammate posted on her social media that she couldn't get her TikTok to work in the beautiful Caribbean Island country. Jones was left wondering why it had been banned.
"I’m in The Bahamas why my tik tok banned? 🤣," Jones wrote in her post on X, formerly known as "Twitter."
Just a few minutes later, the WNBA champion posted a scenic video of the western Atlantic Ocean in front of her. The Liberty player captioned the post with a big message directed at the ban.
"Can't ban this ✌🏾," Jones wrote.
Interestingly, the US Supreme Court has upheld the decision that will eventually lead to the banning of the China-based app, unless it sells the platform by Sunday.
The decision is not expected to affect the app's operation in the Bahamas. However, according to Eyewitness News, users will not be able to view U.S. content.
Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones share wholesome moment after 2024 WNBA title win
Jonquel Jones led the New York Liberty to its first-ever title in the 2024 WNBA season. With superstars like Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu on her team, Jones remained the best player for the Liberty throughout the WNBA Finals.
After the win over the Minnesota Lynx in the overtime-deciding Game 5, Jones looked for Stewart and hugged her, sobbing in her ear. Jones was overwhelmed by something that they had set out to achieve a year before, which had finally come to fruition.
"When I hugged Stewie, I was sobbing in her ear. I didn't say one word. I was just crying the whole time," Jones said after the win. "I'm so happy to win and do it with her."
Jones was selected sixth overall by the LA Sparks in the 2016 WNBA Draft. Her draft rights were later transferred to the Connecticut Sun. The reigning WNBA Finals MVP had a stellar six-year career with the Sun but she was hungry for a title.
She eventually asked for a trade that sent her to the Liberty before the 2023 season. Since Jones arrived in New York, the title was the one dream that she actively shared with the two-time MVP.
After the title win, Breanna Stewart praised her teammate, commending her dominance on both ends of the floor.
"I think it was picture perfect to be able to embrace JJ," Stewart said. "Really what I was saying was like, she led us. Her dominance in the paint, on the boards, help-side defense. Everything that we needed, she was there."
Jones also spoke highly of Breanna Stewart's leadership and how she led from the front in tough moments in the game.
