Marta Xargay, the wife of New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart, shared highlights of the year that was 2024 on social media. The couple had an amazing year and are looking forward to 2025. They have been married since 2021 and have two children together.

In an Instagram post, Xargay made a montage of reels and images from the previous year to highlight the things that happened in their lives. It included Stewart's first WNBA championship with the Liberty as well as her third Olympic gold medal.

The montage also featured their two kids, daughter Ruby Mae and son Theo, some of their family members, as well as close friends from the WNBA like Sue Bird. It was a big year for the couple, who have been together since 2018.

"2024 thank you for everything, the good and the bad. 2025 I'm looking forward to you," Xargay wrote.

While there was a lot of good experiences in 2024, Breanna Stewart and Marta Xargay also had some bad ones. Quite probably the worst thing that happened to them was during the 2024 WNBA Finals between the New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx.

According to ESPN, Xargay received threatening emails and messages after the Liberty lost Game 1 of the WNBA Finals. It had anti-LGBT comments, so the couple report edto authorities. Stewart called the league and the players' union, while Xargay filed a case report to the police.

"Myself and my family, we're definitely doing OK," Stewart said. "We're taking the proper precautions. ... I think that for Marta, especially, I think it was, it is, terrifying. ... It was something that she couldn't not see, so the level of closeness was a little bit different. And I think that we just want to make sure, obviously, myself and Marta are OK, but our kids are the ones that are the safest."

Thankfully, nothing bad happened to the family, and the Liberty went on to win the WNBA championship for the first time. It was Stewart's third title, winning two with the Seattle Storm.

Most WNBA players leave the country during the offseason to play basketball overseas. They receive better contracts abroad, which has been a critical talking point when discussing the league.

However, Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier gave players another option by co-founding Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 league set to start on Jan. 17 in Miami, Florida. They boast a competitive salary coming from several investments, signing 36 players into six teams.
