Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty rallied from a 15-point deficit to beat the Minnesota Lynx 80-77 in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals. Stewart's 22 second-half points gave the visitors a much-needed lift until Sabrina Ionescu's 3-pointer dragged the Liberty to victory. New York regained home-court advantage and took a 2-1 series lead.

Minnesota suffocated the visitors in the first half. Stewart and Co. struggled to put up points and trailed 35-43 after the first two quarters ended. The two-time MVP stepped up big-time when the Liberty needed her the most starting the second half.

"Stewie" had a rough start, finishing with two points on 1-for-4 shooting and committed three turnovers in 10 minutes. New York’s stuttering opening quarter helped the hosts to a 28-18 advantage.

The two-time WNBA Finals MVP played better in the second quarter, scoring six of the Liberty’s 15 points in the period. The defensive slugfest favored the Lynx who were already ahead after the first quarter.

Breanna Stewart’s 14-point third-quarter explosion enabled the New York Liberty to win the period 26-19. She scored her team's first nine points before capping it off with five straight points in the last 46 seconds.

Stewart sustained her fiery room to start the fourth quarter, scoring New York's first eight points. Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu finally answered the bell to help "Stewie" carry the scoring load. Ionescu's 28-footer with 2.1 seconds remaining was the go-ahead basket to push the Liberty to the finish line.

Breanna Stewart carries New York Liberty to Game 3 win

Breanna Stewart received a ton of flak for her two missed shots in regulation and overtime that cost the New York Liberty Game 1. She told reporters after the game that she would not stop being aggressive and vowed to be better. "Stewie" did as she promised in Game 2, leading her team to an 80-66 win.

Against a team that has had their number this season, Stewart was even more impressive in Game 3. The Minnesota Lynx threw the kitchen sink at her and she still delivered. Stewart's 22-point run bridging the third and fourth quarters was mind-boggling.

Sabrina Ionescu pushed the Liberty to the finish line but it was Stewart who put the team on her back.
