Controversial analyst Jason Whitlock criticized Caitlin Clark's response to Christine Brennan's infamous question for DiJonai Carrington in the first round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs between the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun. After Game 1 of the series, Brennan asked Carrington if she intentionally poked Clark's eyes.
Whitlock reacted to Clark's reaction to that question, saying that she "doubled down on the woke narrative," and announcing that he won't be watching the WNBA any longer.
"Caitlin Clark doubled-down on the woke narrative. She’s undermined the passion. People like me, who are upset, are no longer going to watch," he tweeted.
In the clip shared on Thursday, the analyst criticized Caitlin for turning her back on Brennan, one of her biggest supporters.
"Caitlin Cark take a dump on Christine Brennan and said, 'I can't believe someone would ask that question, I thought it was so inappropriate.' When Christine Brennan asked DiJonai Carrington, 'Did you stab her in the eye intentionally?' It's a perfectly legitimate journalistic question.
"She supported the union, the one that reprimanded Christine Brennan, one of the greatest allies that women's sports have had over the course of four or five decades. You want him reprimanded and punished by the WNBA? All because you wanna make peace with the women that have taken you hostage," Whitlock said.
He added that Clark's remarks made him and other people decide not to watch the Fever star and the WNBA altogether.
This is a surprising take as Jason Whitlock always defended Caitlin Clark against other players and haters, but the situation has changed and the veteran analyst has joined the side against Clark. He has been active in criticizing the young guard's decisions this week.
Jason Whitlock slut-shamed Caitlin Clark over black dress she picked for TIME event
Before this clip of his "Fearless" show was published, Jason Whitlock had taken to X/Twitter to criticize the player's attire for the ceremony for her TIME Athlete of the Year honor.
"The faux celebration of Caitlin Clark wearing this slut dress is how you know she’s been captured," Whitlock said. "She looks ridiculous. She’s off brand. She’s girl next door but they want your daughters thinking you have to slut it up no matter how accomplished you are."
The switch on Clark has been a major surprise during the WNBA offseason, but Jason Whitlock has said he's seen enough to stop supporting the former No. 1 overall pick.
