Caitlin Clark remains close to her alma mater, the University of Iowa, where she became one of the most hyped prospects in the world of basketball. The current Indiana Fever star spent four seasons with the Hawkeyes, making it to back-to-back NCAA championship games while setting new records at a college level.
The coach who helped her become a big deal within the basketball world, Lisa Bluder, retired from coaching at the end of last season. In her place, the Hawkeyes promoted assistant Jan Jensen. The new head coach has a big responsibility, but she has the support of several people.
Abby Emmert Stamp, an assistant coach to Jensen, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram to show love to the new head coach on Wednesday.
"This woman right here is leading @iowawbb in the exact way that is right in college athletics. There is simply no one who cares about her players, staff, fans, department, and University more. Jan gives us everything she has, every single day. Jan Jensen in her best era!"
Caitlin Clark had a one-word reaction to that message, agreeing with everything Stamp said.
"Facts," the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year commented underneath the post.
Caitlin Clark paid visit to Iowa campus last week
After spending four years in Iowa, Caitlin Clark treasures the moments she had there and all the joys she had while trying to lead the team to a national championship.
The young guard remains close to the university and last week returned to campus to take a look at the new generation of basketball players, while her old team got a major honor.
First, she watched practice and was hyped up after two players combined for a spectacular play that sent the gym into a frenzy. Clark was there with former teammates Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall, but she was the one who ran around the court to celebrate the play while also having fun with Jan Jensen.
After that, she and the rest of the team were honored during halftime of the Iowa Hawkeyes football team duel against Northwestern. Clark, Martin, Marshall and more were celebrated for their heroics with the women's basketball team and the Fever's young star even talked about how she felt facing former teammate Kate Martin in the WNBA.
It's unclear if the Hawkeyes will see a similar generation to Clark's, but Jan Jensen is seemingly off to a good start with the squad.
