Caitlin Clark's rise to the top has been one of the most notable and prominent in major sports history.
Her journey from Des Moines to the WNBA has been well-documented, and the fact that she's just about to enter her second season in the league should be a frigtening thought for everybody else.
Clark turned 23 years old on Wednesday, and unsurprisingly, it didn't take long before sports personalities from all over the world rushed to wish her well. The list includes LSU star Flau'Jae Johnson, a former teammate of Angel Reese.
Johnson shared a pic with Clark on Instagram.
"Elite Pic," Clark responded when she shared Johnson's post.
Considering Reese's rivalry with Clark, which dates back to college, the fans is on the watch to see whether the Chicago Sky star would also send Clark birthday wishes.
Caitlin Clark says there's no beef with Angel Reese
Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been on opposite ends of the floor since their days in AAU circuits, and while they're not necessarily friends, they're not enemies, either.
“I don’t get that at all,” Clark said on Dec. 10. “We’re not best friends, by any means, but we’re very respectful of one another. Yes, we have had tremendous battles. But when have I ever guarded her? And when has she guarded me?”
Some have compared Clark and Reese's rivalry to the 1980s between NBA legends Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. The WNBA stars are fierce competitors and excel at their respective games, and, just like Johnson and Bird, they don't even have the same skill set or even play the same position.
The WNBA has drawn plenty of eyeballs lately, and this kind of rivalry is maybe something to capitalize on.
At the end of the day, they still respect each other's games as two of the most promising young players in women's basketball.
