As 2024 slowly comes to a close, one of the biggest stories in sports for the calendar year was Caitlin Clark and her historic rookie season. After shattering any and all expectations in the WNBA, the young guard finds herself in the running for a notable award.

Early Tuesday morning, the people at BBC announced the finalists for their Sports Personality of the Year award. The list features athletes from all over the globe, including famous gymnast Simone Biles. Also finding herself in the mix is Clark.

Fans have a week to cast their vote, as the polls don't close until December 10.

Coming off a historic college career at Iowa, the bar was set extremely high for Caitlin Clark upon entering the pros. She got off to a bit of a slow start but went on to put together one of the best rookie campaigns in league history.

On top of shattering numerous rookie and WNBA records, Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists. She went on to be named an All-Star, win Rookie of the Year and be named to an All-WNBA team.

Seeing that she drew a vast amount of eyes and interest to the WNBA this season, Clark certainly belongs in the running for such a famed award.

Caitlin Clark makes appearance on Forbes' under 30 list

Being a finalist for Sports Personality of the Year is not the only honor Caitlin Clark has received as of late. She was also recently named to Forbes' "30 under 30" list in the sports section of the class of 2025.

The 30 under 30 list highlights some of the top young achievers in various industries such as sports, media and music. Aside from Clark, the other big names from the basketball world were Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brunson.

Caitlin Clark was the only WNBA player on this list, but women's basketball was still fairly represented. Also being named to the class of 2025 were LSU guard Flau'jae Johnson and the Cavinder Twins, Haley and Hannah. These three account for three of the top four NIL earners in women's college basketball.

Along with upping her stock on the court, Clark has done well for her brand outside of basketball as well. Her biggest endorsement is with Nike, where she agreed to a $28 million deal shortly after being drafted by the Indiana Fever.

Seeing that she's only just getting ready to turn 23, it's fair to assume Clark will be a mainstay on Forbes' list for years to come. Her brand and notoriety is only going to grow as she slowly becomes a face of the WNBA.
