Caitlin Clark fans petition for Christie Sides to be fired amid Indiana Fever's torrid start to 2024 WNBA season

Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever have a 3-10 record in the 2024 WNBA season, enough to rank fifth in the six-team Eastern Conference and 11th in the entire league. This franchise is trying to become competitive with the rookie leading the way, but some fans already want changes during the first four weeks of the campaign.

A petition on Change has been created by a Caitlin Clark fan claiming that Christie Sides isn't the right coach for the team and calling for her firing.

"The Indiana Fever have been poorly coached by Christie Sides for going on 2 years with no foreseeable improvement," user Paige S wrote. "She seems delusional to want to stifle generational talents like AB and CC and does not seem to care about the team's success based on recent play-call and outlandish post-game interviews.
"(Get those Technical Fouls then, Sides!) She takes no accountability for her actions and continuously throws her players under the bus.
"We all clearly see the disconnect between this coach and the players of the Indiana Fever. We need a coach who can nurture our players' potential and lead them to victory, while empowering them and fighting for them on and off the court. Sign this petition if you believe it's time for a change at the helm of our beloved team!"

As of early Tuesday evening, the petition has gotten 49 signs and only needs one to reach its initial goal. Some fans appear to agree with the petition, but 50 people is still a low number considering it was created two weeks ago.

Christie Sides has been a coach at the collegiate and professional level, having stints as an assistant with the Fever, Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dreams before landing this gig.

Christie Sides sends clear message after benching Caitlin Clark, more starters against the Sun

After she benched Caitlin Clark and the rest of the starting lineup to start the second half against the Sun on Monday, Sides called out her players, saying that those players who didn't put in any effort shouldn't be on the court.

"At this level, you can't coach effort. I feel we were just asking them to keep playing. You can't start there, you can't keep playing in this league where we have to coach effort," she told reporters after an 89-72 loss.
