WNBA rookie sensation Caitlin Clark is set to return to the court tonight against the Phoenix Mercury after the Olympic break. Following a first half of the season full of ups and downs, the Indiana Fever showed a better face before the All-Star game, finishing with an 11-15 record after a 1-9 start.
The No. 1 overall pick of the 2024 WNBA draft shared her thoughts on having time off during the Olympic break.
"I think the time off was just really helpful for all of us, from a standpoint of getting reset mentally, emotionally, physically, just because the first part of our schedule was so demanding and there as always so much eyeballs on us, too many people watching, always a spotlight so it's good to have that reset," Clark said (via Indiana Fever on X).
Clark noted that she's ready to compete again after not hitting the court for nearly a month.
"For myself, coming in right off my college season and then coming right to the WNBA, that reset is something that I probably haven't had in like a year and now that I have a little break, it's been really good for myself, but I feel like I definitely got that edge to go back out there, but also I think it's been really good for us to get in the gym."

Caitlin Clark says not getting called to the Olympics was beneficial for her
Even though plenty of people thought she was deserving of a spot on the 2024 USA Basketball women's team, Caitlin Clark had a different approach to the snub and tried to improve.
The 22-year-old guard explained she hit the weight room and got the chance to work on things she couldn't before. The transition from college to the WNBA wasn't easy for her, but the three-week hiatus proved beneficial.
The Indiana Fever are ready to resume action tonight against the Phoenix Mercury. Clark is ready to make another statement and finish the season strong while trying to lead her team to the postseason.
In 26 WNBA games, Clark has averaged 17.1 points, shooting 40.5% from the field, 32.7% from deep and 89.1% from the free-throw line. She has also recorded 5.4 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game.
