WNBA fans hit out at Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark over her perceived flopping in a collision with Jackie Young in their game against the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday. The incident happened in the second half of the Aces' 86-75 victory in Indiana.
As Clark missed an under-the-goal stab, she collided with Young, with the two hitting each other in the face and falling on the floor together.
The play was reviewed later and a foul was called on Young. Not satisfied, Clark tried to plead to have it elevated to a flagrant but was unsuccessful.
Fans gave their thoughts on the play, with most reacting harshly on what Caitlin Clark was trying to do in the now-viral on-court video.
One fan just could not stand the over-the-top theatrics of this year's top overall WNBA rookie pick, writing:
"#CaitlinClark is one floppin, f***in' actress. She was not hit hard. Can't stand it. #WNBA"
"'Lol Caitlin Clark with the flop! #WNBA," another one reiterated.
One user, meanwhile, moved to highlight that Clark is also a rough player and not all that squeaky-clean on the floor.
"Caitlin Clark love to smack people in the face. This is not her first offense.'"
Some comments asserted their take on the Indiana rookie as a player.
"'Spot on! She's a poor sport,' one comment read."
"'Her hand should have never touched Jackie Young face period! These players are not going to keep allowing her to push off everything is not a flagrant foul. CC deserves the Most Tantrum Award in the WNBA,' a "fed-up" fan wrote.
One fan, meanwhile, chose to use the incident to rub salt into the defeat that Caitlin Clark and the Fever absorbed at the hands of the Aces.
"Cry more," another fan urged.
Clark played 38 minutes against the Aces and had a rough scoring night. She finished with 16 points but was only 6-of-22 from the floor and 1-of-10 from deep.
Caitlin Clark vents out some frustration over officiating after loss to Aces
Caitlin Clark could not contain her frustration over the officiating in their 86-75 loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Wednesday at home. She said some calls were left field and had her and her team scratching their heads.
The Indiana Fever rookie made her sentiments known during the post-game press conference, not holding her thoughts and saying:
"The offensive fouls are definitely surprising at times. I feel like I do get held and get quite a bit of contact throughout the games, and then you get hit with some of those when you take contact and give contact back. It is what it is... I don't know, apparently they see something different..."
Clark and the Fever (19-18) will have another serving of the Aces (23-13) in their next game on Friday also in Indiana.
