The Indiana Fever made a significant change to their organization by firing Christie Sides. News then came Friday that Stephanie White was taking over as the new coach. As with any decision, the fans shared various opinions on Indiana's move.
One fan thought that the decision to bring White in to replace Sides was "crazy." Additionally, this fan shared another opinion on another roster move the Fever should make. According to them, backup guard Erica Wheeler has got to go.
This fan caught Wheeler's attention and she offered her response on X (formerly Twitter).
"Hahaha you a hater! Love it," Wheeler posted. "Stay there I need my haters too!"
Wheeler came off the bench to relieve the backcourt starters during the 2024 season. She averaged 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists on 14.0 minutes of playing time.
Wheeler was relegated to the bench last season with the emergence of Caitlin Clark. Prior to Clark being drafted, Wheeler started every single game in 2023.

Stephanie White will be in her second stint as the Fever's head coach when the next season begins
Stephanie White was hired by the Connecticut Sun in 2023 to replace Curt Miller. White tallied a regular season win-loss record of 55-25. She also led the Sun to the WNBA semifinals both years that she was their coach. Despite the team seeing success, White and the Sun decided to part ways.
However, she did not remain jobless for long as the Indiana Fever snagged her after firing Christie Sides. While this is technically a new gig for White, she is not entirely unfamiliar with Indiana.
In fact, her first head coaching position in the WNBA was in Indiana. After being an assistant for Lin Dunn from 2011-14, White took over as head coach. In her first year (2015), she led Indiana to a 20-14 record and took them all the way to the Finals where they lost to the Minnesota Lynx.
White's second season was less successful, as Indiana finished 17-17 and were eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Mercury. Prior to the 2016 season's conclusion, White had already accepted a job to coach Vanderbilt's women's basketball team.
Her last year as Indiana's head coach was also the last year that the team made the playoffs until last season.
She will now take over for Sides, who coached the team in 2023 and 2024. Sides' overall record with Indiana was 33-47. She went 13-27 in her first year and an even 20-20 last year.
The Fever broke a seven-season-long playoff drought under Sides. However, they were eliminated in the first round by none other than the Stephanie White-led Connecticut Sun.
