Caitlin Clark is on the cover of TIME after earning the prestigious “Athlete of the Year” award from the magazine’s poll of sports reporters. The Indiana Fever superstar shared a few monochrome photos from the magazine on her Instagram account. It didn’t take long for her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, friends and fans to react to her post.
McCaffery wrote on the page:
“Stunning 🫶🏼🫶🏼❤️❤️”
The TIME’s award is the exclamation point on a year Clark took centerstage in women’s basketball. She led the Hawkeyes to the NCAA championship game and became the all-time NCAA Division 1 all-time points leader in points (men’s and women’s). Clark was named the women’s College Player of the Year for the second straight year.
The former Iowa superstar entered the WNBA where she became the No. 1 pick in 2024. Despite doubts by senior players and analysts, she was the near-unanimous Rookie of the Year winner, led the league in assists and broke multiple records. Connor McCaffery had a front-row seat to her whirlwind year.
Caitlin Clark became the first WNBA player to get the recognition from TIME Magazine. Past winners of the award include NBA superstar LeBron James, gymnastic great Simone Biles, swimming legend Michael Phelps and soccer icon Lionel Messi. Clark has reached a rarefied stratosphere in sports.
Caitlin Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, and others react to the Indiana Fever star’s TIME Athlete of the Year award
Unsurprisingly, Connor McCaffery wasn’t the only one to react to Caitlin Clark’s TIME Athlete of the Year award post on Instagram. As one of basketball’s most popular players, reactions flooded her page.
Clark’s co-Fever star Aliyah Boston said:
“Bodyyyyyyy😍😍😍”
Tyrese Haliburton’s girlfriend Jade Jones, who is a close friend of Clark, remarked:
“modeling agencies are screaming!!!!!”
She continued:
“duh who else????”
Actor Taylor Lautner added:
“YES”
Former Iowa teammate Gabbie Marshall commented:
“Maybe it’s TIME to get into modeling????? 😉”
Another Indiana Fever teammate, Katie Lou Samuelson, joined the fun:
“This is awesome 🔥”
When TIME asked Clark to describe her year, she said:
“I've been able to captivate so many people that have never watched women's sports, let alone women's basketball, and turn them into fans.”
The comments from her IG post unanimously agree with her. Many called her 2024 “historic” and “legendary.”
