Caitlin Clark's boyfriend and current Indiana Pacers team assistant Connor McCaffery showed love to Michelle Obama on Day 2 of the Democratic National Convention. The former First Lady of the United States officially endorsed Kamala Harris and took some shots at Republican candidate Donald Trump.
In a post on his Instagram stories, McCaffery shared an image of Obama's speech in Chicago and attached a heart emoji to it.
Here's a screenshot of McCaffery's story:
The presidential election will be on November 5 between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Athletes are free to support whoever they believe can lead the nation although most go on a neutral stance and urge people to vote.
While McCaffrey's posting hearts for the DNC, his girlfriend, Caitlin Clark, has not made any public comments about the election. OutKick's Dan Zaksheske advised the Indiana Fever superstar to "stay out of it" since making her choice public could lead to a backlash that might affect her brand.
Caitlin Clark's rival shows support for Michelle Obama
Connor McCaffery was not the only one who showed his support for Michelle Obama during her speech at the Democratic National Convention. Caitlin Clark's rival and fellow WNBA rookie Angel Reese also tweeted about Obama's shots at Donald Trump yesterday.
"MICHELLE SAID WHAT SHE SAID," Reese tweeted.
Reese has not publicly endorsed any candidate but previously encouraged her followers to vote this upcoming November. One of her close friends, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, has voiced her support for Kamala Harris' candidacy.
Caitlin Clark has second-best odds to win MVP
Caitlin Clark had a rough start to her career and had trouble with her shot, taking care of the basketball and the physicality of the league. However, Clark has made the necessary adjustments and it has led to a lot of impressive wins for the Indiana Fever.
The Fever have won the first two games of the second half of the regular season against the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm, two teams with an above .500 record. They remain at No. 7 in the WNBA standings, but could continue to climb if they extend their winning streak.
Clark is one of the major reasons for Indiana's success this season. She's averaging 17.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. She's still struggling with turnovers, but her shooting has been improving after taking a much-needed rest during the Olympic break.
The Iowa product currently leads the league in total assists and assists per game. Her recent performances were enough for sportsbooks like BetMGM to give her the second-best odds to win WNBA MVP just behind A'ja Wilson, who is still an overwhelming favorite.
