Caitlin Clark has received a special invitation from one of her childhood heroes, Mia Hamm. The women's soccer and USA Women's National Team legend extended the invitation to Clark not to play basketball or soccer, but to take on the golf course.
On Friday, college basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli released a video recorded last year with Hamm where she had "a special ask" for the Indiana Fever rookie. The two-time FIFA World Cup champion invited Clark to her invitational golf tournament.
"Caitlin, would you come to the Mia Hamm Foundation Golf Tournament next year?" Hamm said. "I hear you're an amazing golfer. We obviously know how great of a basketball player you are, Hall of Famer already, but we'd love to have you and we have Debbie here, who's an All-Star."
"She's amazing," Hamm said about Clark before agreeing to play with her if she attended the event. "Absolutely."
Caitlin Clark became a basketball star a couple of years ago, but in 2024, her fame reached new heights. She was a phenom during her senior year at Iowa and her popularity increased when she made it to the WNBA back in April.
After an exhausting year, Clark told reporters that she would focus on a different sport this offseason, aiming to become a professional golfer. Even before the LPGA accepted her application to become a pro, Hamm asked the 22-year-old star to join forces.
Almost one year ago, Hamm invited Clark to her event after seeing the then-Iowa Hawkeye star's reaction to getting a USWNT jersey signed by Hamm.
“She was literally my idol growing up,” Caitlin Clark said upon receipt of the jersey. “That’s so cool.”
“We would love to have you join us @CaitlinClark22,” Hamm wrote. “Best to you this season.”
Caitlin Clark explained what she needed to do to join Mia Hamm on the course
During the early days of her WNBA career in May, Caitlin Clark sat down with Debbie Antonelli. The analyst offered her to play three-way golf with Hamm, but Clark said she needed to work on her game before taking on that challenge.
“I need to work on my game before that. I haven’t touched a club in about like six months. So, it could be scary. I need to get back on my grind. But now that I’m playing during the summer, it’s hard to get out on the course. But it’s okay. We’ll find some time to get ready.”

It's unclear if she'll accept this invitation, but considering her admiration for Hamm and her participation in the John Deere Pro-Am Tournament last year, Clark could be in.
