Caitlin Clark responds to criticism from former Fox News host

On Tuesday, Caitlin Clark was named Time magazine’s Athlete of the Year. In an interview with the magazine, Clark was thankful for the award. However, she also mentioned how the WNBA was "built on Black players" and pointed out that Black athletes should have more recognition.

“I want to say I’ve earned every single thing, but as a white person, there is privilege,” she told the publication. “A lot of those players in the league that have been really good have been Black players.
"This league has kind of been built on them. The more we can appreciate that, highlight that, talk about that, and then continue to have brands and companies invest in those players that have made this league incredible, I think it’s very important.”

However, former Fox News host Megyn Kelly isn't convinced with Clark's claims and criticized her on X (formerly Twitter).

"Look at this. She’s on the knee all but apologizing for being white and getting attention. The self-flagellation. The “oh pls pay attention to the black players who are REALY the ones you want to celebrate.” Condescending. Fake. Transparent. Sad," Kelly posted.

On Wednesday, Caitlin Clark clapped back at Kelly during her attendance at the Time dinner.

"The only opinions I really care about are the people I love, my teammates, my coaches, the people inside our locker room, the people I see every single day and I know have my best interest at heart," Clark said.

However, it hasn't stopped Kelly from her criticism of the WNBA star.
