The Indiana Fever reportedly sent a "strange" survey to fans on their mail via their official newsletter account recently, with some questions mentioning Caitlin Clark's suppositious absence from the team.
The survey questioned fans regarding their engagement with the Fever in various hypothetical scenarios, seemingly in an attempt to better understand their fanbase. An intriguing question regarding Clark was:
- How would your likelihood of attending a Fever game next season change if Caitlin Clark was not playing?
Indiana Fever fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their reactions with many in a frenzy over the suppositious Caitlin Clark questions put forth by the team.
"I just kept thinking during the survey - don’t threaten me with these nightmare scenarios!" a fan tweeted.
"Filled out a survey from the Indiana Fever, and 2 of the questions were basically: 'Will you still be a fan of the FEVER if Caitlin Clark doesn't play here?' And while the answer is a YES for me, it kind of makes me nervous because why are they putting that in a survey?!?!?" a fan tweeted.
"That is so crazy to see out in the wild.. normally something like that would be a private focus group(s)" a fan tweeted.
"I got the same one. Some of those were a little jarring to see in writing," a fan tweeted.
Some fans even questioned the authenticity of the reported survey, highlighting a grammatical error in one of the questions.
"Kinda looks fake. Not to be the grammar police, but ‘to what extend’ (instead of extent) is just fishy," a fan tweeted.
Other fans then verified the survey's authenticity in response to the claims:
"Was not fake. Sent from the same Fever email that sends the newsletters and ticket info. Survey was much longer than this," a fan tweeted.
The Indiana Fever recorded the highest attendance in the WNBA last season, averaging 17,036 fans per home game. The figure was over 4,000 fans more than the New York Liberty, who came second.
Caitlin Clark's presence also skyrocketed viewership figures of the team and its effect also spilled to the league overall. In the previous season, 23 games recorded a viewership of over one million, with 20 of those games involving the Fever.
3x All-star predicted to join Caitlin Clark's Fever
With the start of WNBA free agency around the corner, various teams look to bolster their teams with suitable additions ahead of the start of the 2025 season.
According to ESPN's Michael Voepel, three-time All-Star Brionna Jones could be a great fit for Indiana Fever, considering she worked alongside the Fever's new head coach, Stephanie White, in 2023 and 2024.
"Perhaps the 29-year-old could reunite with her coach with the Sun the past two years, Stephanie White, in Indiana," said Voepel in a recent piece for ESPN.
The Indiana Fever are in a strong position considering their star duo Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston are still on rookie deals. Adding Jones could be the push they need to significantly bolster their chances of being a championship-contending team next season.
