Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have been on a roll since the start of the season half. They have a 5-1 record following the break and have climbed to No. 6 in the WNBA standings. Fever legend Tamika Catchings recognized Clark's impact on the team's hot streak.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Catchings praised Clark for making her teammates better. She also praised the entire team for stepping up with just eight games left in the regular season. There might not be enough games to catch up to the fifth seed, but enough to maintain their spot for the postseason.
"The @IndianaFever 'TEAM' is stepping up and that’s what makes great players- great. @CaitlinClark22 makes the players around her better. The overall numbers since the Olympic break have been insane! LETTTSSSSS GOOOO #FeverBeliever," Catchings tweeted.
Tamika Catchings is considered the greatest player in Indiana Fever franchise history. Catchings is a former WNBA MVP and helped the Fever win a championship in 2012 when she was named Finals MVP. She was also a 10-time All-Star and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
On the other hand, the Fever have been looking for a franchise player since Catchings retired in 2016. They have struck gold twice in 2023 and 2024, getting back-to-back No. 1 picks.
The Fever are expected to build around Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark moving forward, but it seems like they can make noise in the playoffs. They are playing much better since their bad start to the season when they had no chemistry at all.
That all changed when they got more time to know each other and play together more as the season progressed. Their chemistry has been through the roof since the season resumed, with Caitlin Clark playing like a maestro, Aliyah Boston solid as a rock and Kelsey Mitchell proving why she was named an All-Star.
Caitlin Clark receives support from LeBron James after Fever's win over Sky
Despite what haters are saying online and ESPN putting her second behind Angel Reese in their rankings, Caitlin Clark certainly ended the Rookie of the Year race after the Indiana Fever's huge win over the Chicago Sky on Friday. Clark remained a heavy favorite to win the award, but there were still doubters before the game.
After dropping 31 points, four rebounds and 12 assists plus a 100-81 win, Clark might have silenced her critics for good. She also got the support of the NBA's biggest superstar, LeBron James, who called out her haters on X.
"CAITLIN CLARK!!!!! HI HATERS," James tweeted.
The Fever have eight games left on their schedule and should clinch a playoff spot soon. They will play three games against teams with a better record than them, but the rest is against non-playoff teams.
