Veteran columnist Christine Brennan is slated to chronicle Caitlin Clark's rise to stardom in a new book with her long-time publisher Scribner. Brennan announced her new project on X, formerly Twitter, and revealed that the book will be out in 2025.
Widely considered as a generational talent, Caitlin Clark was making waves in women's basketball and gained national limelight long before she ever stepped onto the WNBA stage. She had a tremendous college career and is widely credited for the popularizing women's basketball, a phenomenon that came to be known as the "Caitlin Clark effect."
The hype around Clark only increased when she declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft and was picked first overall by the Indiana Fever. She had an immediate impact and has played a commendable role in the WNBA's rapid growth in viewership, ticket sales, engagement and overall interest.
Having played just 28 games, the star rookie has already broken a myriad of WNBA records, with her latest accolade achieved during the Indiana Fever's matchup against the Seattle Storm on Sunday. She is averaging 17.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.4 steals in her rookie season while shooting 41.2% from the field and 32.8% from deep.
Caitlin Clark sets assists record as Fever beats Storm
Caitlin Clark added yet another record to her rapidly growing list of accolades during the Indiana Fever's matchup against the Seattle Storm on Sunday. Clark secured the WNBA's single-season rookie assists record during the game as she led the Fever to a 92-75 win against the Storm with 23 points, five rebounds, nine assists, one steal and two blocks.
"It's definitely cool," Clark told reporters after the game. "If you would have told me I'd lead the league in assists coming in here my rookie season, I probably would have told you you were lying.
"But I take a lot of pride in that. I want to set my teammates up first and foremost because I think that's going to help you have the most successful team."
The Fever were one of the worst teams in the WNBA during the past several seasons and started the year with five straight losses. However, Caitlin Clark had a huge impact on the team, as she leads the way in the team's effort to clinch a playoff berth after seven consecutive misses.
With the win oSunday, the Indiana Fever are seventh on the WNBA standings with a 13-15 record. They have won six of their past 10 games and are riding a two-game winning streak as they hit the road to face the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday.
