Last season, WNBA veteran Erica Wheeler had the opportunity to play alongside Caitlin Clark during her historic rookie season. While enjoying the offseason downtime, she took to social media to give her thoughts on the major change in the United States.

After winning the election in November, Donald Trump was sworn into office for a second time on Monday. In the midst of his inauguration and first 24 hours as president, many chimed reacted to this moment online.

Among those to sound off on the start of Trump's second presidential term was Erica Wheeler. She did not hold back with her true feelings, letting the world know she still wasn't pleased with the outcome.

"USA is a joke," Wheeler wrote on threads.

Wheeler, 33, finished up her ninth season in the WNBA. In 2023, she returned to the Indiana Fever for a second run with the franchise. The former All-Star has taken on a smaller role in this late stage of her career.

Wheeler appeared in almost every regular season game for the Fever last year but only averaged 14 minutes a game. In that time, she posted averages of 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Erica Wheeler hints at not returning to the Indiana Fever in free agency

When she isn't posting about the state of the country, Erica Wheeler has also talked about her future in the WNBA online. Based on some of her recent social media posts, it seems like her second run with the Indiana Fever could be coming to an end.

This offseason, Wheeler is among the many players set to hit free agency. Despite the Fever having a lot to offer, the veteran guard looks ready to play the field. On Threads, Wheeler posted about her agent sending her a list of teams in free agency. She also said she plans to drop hints on what might be next for her in the near future.

Erica Wheeler is one of two key free agents the Fever have to decide on this offseason. The other is Kelsey Mitchell, who had one of her best years in the pros playing alongside Caitlin Clark.

Coming off a season where they were able to end their playoff drought, the Fever should look to continue building a contender around Clark. They've already made some upgrades this offseason, bringing in Stephanie White to be the team's new head coach.
