Caitlin Clark played her fourth full 40-minute game this season during the Indiana Fever's 93-86 victory over the LA Sparks on Wednesday. She recorded her second career triple-double.
The Fever rookie helped her team to a fifth straight victory, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in 40 minutes. For good measure, she also had three steals against the Sparks.
In the postgame press conference, Caitlin Clark spoke about the endurance she displayed in playing another full 40-minute game, saying:
"I like sprinting. I like to run. I feel like finding the balance when to conserve my energy during the game and play with pace at the same time ... I think I've done better with that... I felt really good going the full stretch... I could probably go play another 40 minutes."
Check out what she had to say below:
Caitlin Clark was the lone Fever player to play 40 minutes against the Sparks. Veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell had a 36-minute run and had 18 points and four rebounds. Aliyah Boston, meanwhile, played 33 minutes and, like Clark, had 24 points to go along with 14 rebounds and four assists.
The win was the fifth straight for the Fever (18-16) and seventh in eight games following the Olympic break. They next play on Friday against the Minnesota Lynx.
Caitlin Clark not satisfied with just making the playoffs
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever were already aware that they already qualified for this year's playoffs ahead of their game against the LA Sparks on Wednesday. The rookie sensation, however, is not just satisfied with making the postseason and actually wants them to make noise and go as deep as possible.
The top overall pick in this year's draft made this known ahead of their clash against the visiting Sparks, highlighting that making the playoffs after eight years is a big moment for the Fever but that they should continue to work and create a bigger ripple.
Caitlin Clark, 22, said (via ABC News):
"It's definitely a big moment for this place, but at the same time, I came in with the expectation that this is what's going to happen. For me, this isn't a party. Yeah, it's great. But there is so much left to be done. I'm not just happy to be in the playoffs. I feel like we have the type of team that can win and advance."
With their 93-86 victory over the Sparks, the Fever improved to 18-16, fortifying their hold on the sixth spot. They are a game ahead of the No. 7 Phoenix Mercury (17-17) and 5.5 games behind No. 5 Seattle Storm (20-13).
Indiana, however, is already assured of a spot in the playoff, a place where they have not been to since 2016.
