Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever hosted the Connecticut Sun today, set to avoid getting swept by one of the best teams in the WNBA this season. The rookie guard is on a roll, becoming what many people expected him to be ahead of her WNBA debut.

Clark scored seven points in the first quarter, including a triple that broke the rookie record for 3-pointers made in WNBA history. While Kelsey Mitchell had a remarkable start (11 points), Clark wasn't much different.

Clark started the second quarter trying to find her teammates, focusing on being a playmaker instead of a scorer, but the offense struggled to get going early in the second quarter, and Clark committed a turnover. With 3:38 minutes left on the clock, Clark scored again with a big 3-pointer, finishing the second quarter with 10 points.

Caitlin Clark added seven points in the third quarter to help her team hold on a 69-66 lead ahead of the fourth quarter. It wasn't the most active fourth quarter for Clark, but she showed up with less than two minutes on the clock to give her team an 82-80 lead.

She was close to making a big-time 3-pointer that would have put the Sun in a complex position, but the ball went in and then out to give another chance to Connecticut. With 23:4 seconds left on the clock, DiJonai Carrington fouled her to stop the clock and prevent the Fever to secure the win. After a thrilling ending, Clark got the final rebound of the game off a missed shot by DiJonai Carrington, securing the 15th win of the season for the Fever.

Caitlin Clark leads the Indiana Fever to first season win against the Sun

This game presented a very good opportunity for the Indiana Fever to finally beat the Connecticut Sun this season. Connecticut had won the season opener 92-71 back in May before getting a closer win six days later, beating the Fever 88-84. The third game of the regular season series happened on June 10, with the Fever taking an easy 89-72 win over the Sun.

As much as the Fever improved, they didn't seem to be good enough to beat the Sun until now. Caitlin Clark and company were committed on defense and made big plays to stop the Sun. Now, they are just one game away from the .500 mark with nine more games to play.
