Golf star Nelly Korda gave Caitlin Clark a special gift after they participated in Annika Sorenstam's pro-am tournament. They played the first nine holes of the tournament before Sorenstam replaced Korda as Clark's teammate.
After everything was said and done, Korda was seen signing three balls. In a reel shared by the LPGA Tour Instagram account, the 2024 Player of the Year revealed they were a gift for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.
"Caitlin. She asked for three signed golf balls," Korda replied when asked who she was signing balls for. "I wish I had a basketball. Maybe I'll ask her to send me one."
"Now, I want a basketball please," she told Clark while giving her the balls.
Clark was the last hitter at the first tee of the pro-am. She even joked that she should have been the first to take the course. She commented on this post, explaining how much this gift meant.
She was very cordial with Korda, the No. 1 player in the LPGA Tour ranking, an Olympic gold medalist and multiple-time major winner. Clark made quite an impression with the Floridian player, who showered in praise after playing together.
Nelly Korda shares her thoughts on Caitlin Clark's golf skills
Nelly Korda praised Caitlin Clark's golf abilities, noting that Clark made a strong impression despite a few mistakes.
“It was great to see how relaxed she was,” Korda said, per The Mirror. “Obviously with the media attention she has gotten probably in the past year and a half, two years, you can see how she's comfortable playing in front of a larger crowd. And she was just really enjoying it. You can tell.
“She's definitely very talented. She was picking the ball really clean. She was losing a couple shots to the right, but I asked her how many times a week she plays and I think with the amount of obligations she has she probably gets to the golf course once a week. So just play once a week she was playing really well.”
Caitlin Clark is enjoying the WNBA offseason, and after playing in this tournament, it's unclear what she's up to next. Speculation about potential participation in the upcoming Unrivaled league has been loud in recent weeks, but nothing is official.
