Cameron Brink suffered an excruciating injury during the LA Sparks' WNBA regular season game against Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Brink was carried to the locker room after she appeared to be in excruciating pain during Sparks' 70-79 loss against the Sun at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville.

It was a heart-in-mouth moment for Brink and Sparks' fans after the No.2 pick of the 2024 class went down with injury. From Brink's reaction of agony, it was an ominous sign for the franchise.

After the game, Sparks' coach Curt Miller offered a concerning update on the former Stanford superstar. Miller revealed that Brink had sustained a knee injury and hinted that the rookie would be sidelined for some time.

"Cam has a knee injury and will be evaluated tomorrow,” Curt Miller told reporters after the game, as quoted by The Washington Post.
"Except for the 2019 season I’ve lost a starter to injury every single year I’ve been a head coach in this league. You just have to have the mentality of next person up and rally around it. We’re praying and hoping for the best for Cam," he added.

What exactly happened to Cameron Brink?

With 6:23 remaining in the first quarter, Brink drove toward the basket. She bumped into Brionna Jones and appeared to have lost her footing, which resulted in an awkward fall on the floor. The rookie grimaced with pain and was helped up by her teammates.

Brink tried to shake off the pain and limped towards the bench. As the pain increased, Brink tried to hobble towards the Sparks' locker room but her effort was futile. She was later lifted by Sparks' personnel and taken to the locker room.

Brink's outing ended prematurely and the rookie could only play for four minutes. The Sparks rookie hadn't registered any points, rebounds, or assists before getting injured.

Brink's injury came as a huge setback not just for the Sparks but also for USA Basketball. Brink was named in the USA Basketball 3x3 roster for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
