Cameron Brink pens powerful first words after suffering ACL injury

Cameron Brink and the LA Sparks received bad news Wednesday after tests said Brink suffered an ACL injury. The No. 2 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft was having a solid start to her professional career and everything has apparently come to an end.

The player broke her silence after the LA Sparks revealed she's suffered a torn ACL. With a long Instagram post, she reflected on the moment and thanked fans for their support during this tough time.

"You never think it will happen to you. And despite all the hard work sometimes it does. This is hard to fathom but I know it will only make me stronger. I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life- I’m not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply and I will work everyday to get back to it.
"It’s not goodbye basketball it’s just a see you later. I’m always so thankful for your thoughts and prayers. 💜💛 #delayednotdenied," she captioned the post.

During Tuesday's game against the Connecticut Sun, the rookie forward tried to get to the basket, clashed with Brionna Jones and fell to the ground. She screamed in pain, had the be helped to get up and then lifted off the court.

After Cameron Brink opened up on this unfortunate moment, she received a lot of support from fellow WNBA players. A'ja Wilson, Angel Reese (who previously shared her prayers for Brink) and teammate Kia Nurse were among the people who offered her words of encouragement.

"love you barbie doll! 🥺," Angel Reese wrote underneath the post.
"🙏🏽🤍" A'ja Wilson commented.
"Sending you love 🩷 you got this!" Seattle Storm's Nika Muhl said.
"Sending you my love❤️❤️❤️," Lisa Leslie shared.
"you have 1000000000% got this! Just a bump in the road and I know your comeback will be incredible!! We’ve got your back the whole way through…love you girlyyyy pop 💜💜💜💜💜," Kia Nurse added.

Cameron Brink was having a terrific season up to this point. She was among the favorites to compete for the Defensive Player of the Year award, but this is a major setback.

Hopefully, she can return to her best and compete with the LA Sparks as soon as possible.
