Caitlin Clark has the Indiana Fever running like a well-oiled machine and having a lot of momentum heading into the 2024 WNBA playoffs. However, Lexie Hull has been the unsung hero for the Fever since the Olympic break, and fans reacted to her impact on the team.
Hull has been playing off the bench for most of the season for the Fever. She was promoted to the starting lineup on Aug. 28 against the Connecticut Sun and has been a starter in Indiana's last six games. She's doing it all for the the Fever, but her shooting has been a difference-maker.
The third-year guard is having a fantastic season shooting from beyond the arc. She's leading the league in 3-point shooting, at a whopping 49.2%, and holds the record for the highest percentage from three over a 10-game span, at 69.7%.
Fans hilariously pointed out that Lexie Hull's shooting improved after she vacationed with Caitlin Clark during the Olympic break. Hull was shooting just 28.0% from beyond the arc before the break but has been lights out since then, at 70.0%.
Some even took shots at Katie Lou Samuelson and urged her to take a vacation with Clark next time. However, Samuelson went with Hull and Clark during the break.
"Can CC take Katie Lou on a vacation with her next?," a fan joked.
"CC makes everyone around her better," one fan opined.
"Can she borrow KLS for several off days before playoff?," another fan asked.
Caitlin Clark called their midseason vacation a "mermaid trip," and it has done wonders for the Indiana Fever. Clark needed it, especially after having no rest in between her final season at Iowa and her first year in the WNBA.
"The ice water in Clark’s veins seeped into Hulls on the mermaid raft," a fan joked.
"Mermaids going to mermaid," one fan responded.
"Chemistry and confidence is a helluva drug," another fan remarked.
Caitlin Clark could break multiple records before the end of the season
The Indiana Fever have four games left in the regular season, and Caitlin Clark is expected to play all of them. The Fever might have made the playoffs, but winning their last four games could help improve their seeding in the postseason.
Clark could also break multiple WNBA records before the end of the campaign. She needs 53 points to break Seimone Augustus' record for most points by a rookie in a season.
She also needs just 11 assists to break the league's all-time record for most in a season set by Alyssa Thomas (316) last year.
If Clark has another 25-point, 10-assist game, she will have the all-time record as a rookie, which is another impressive feat.
She's also 18 3-point shots away from breaking Sabrina Ionescu's record (128) for most in a season, but it would be difficult than the previous three records due to the number of games left.
