Chicago Sky star Chennedy Carter celebrated her coach's latest career move on social media.

Carter is playing for the Wuhan Shengfan in China during the off-season. The league's leading scorer had a short message for the team's coach Li Jianxin, who was named the national U-16 coach.

"My head coach just received national team honors based off our team’s play this season. He will leave to coach the Chinese U16 women’s team! incredible season, and run we had love you Coach Lee," she wrote.

Carter's team is currently second in the WCBA league standings. The Wuhan-based club has 13 victories and three losses, the same record as the Daqing Rural team, which leads the division. The 21-team competition is divided into three divisions, with Wuhan Shengfan playing in Group B.

Chennedy is not the only American on the team as former K-State forward Peyton Williams is also in Wuhan Shengfan's starting five.

Chennedy Carter receives award in Chinese league

Chennedy Carter was awarded a "Good Temper Award" during her stint in China's WCBA basketball league in November. This award was given to acknowledge Carter's efforts to maintain her emotions.

Despite labeling her passion as a "double-edged sword" the league rewarded her for showcasing maturing and taking accountability.

In July 2021, the Atlanta Dream banned Carter indefinitely for "conduct detrimental to the team." The former Texas guard reportedly wanted to fight a teammate.

Following this incident, Chennedy Carter was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks in 2022 but was waived by March 2023, playing only 24 games and starting only two. The 26-year-old was benched for the latter part of her time there and was removed from the team for "poor conduct."
