The Chicago Sky have made a notable move ahead of the All-Star and Olympic break, adding two guards to bolster their squad for the rest of the 2024 WNBA season.
The 2021 WNBA champions are getting Rachel Banham and Moriah Jefferson from the Connecticut Sun. They are sending veteran Marina Mabrey to Mohegan Sun Arena alongside the Sky's 2025 second-round pick.
In addition, the Sky announced today that they're getting the Sun's 2025 first-round draft pick and the rights to swap 2026 first-rounders from the Sun.
The 10-14 Chicago Sky is entering the break on a high note after beating the defending champions Las Vegas Aces, as visitors, 93-85, to get the 10th win of the campaign.
Chennedy Carter keeps showing that she's a key player for the Sky, scoring 34 points to help them get past A'ja Wilson and company.
Once the break is over, the team will have new faces, without Mabrey, who was inconsistent at times, on the roster. That said, it's time to take a look at the Chicago Sky's depth chart after the trade with the Connecticut Sun.
Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Chennedy Carter remain on the roster and perhaps the two new pieces can help them get over the hump down the stretch.

While they got rid of one guard in Marina Mabrey, they received two, meaning they have seven guards on the roster now.
One would imagine that without Mabrey in the picture, Carter will have a more prominent role in the Chicago Sky's offense. Lindsay Allen and Dana Evans were used to getting more minutes coming off the bench, but now they could fall in Teresa Weatherspoon's pecking order.
Who are Rachel Banham and Moriah Jefferson?
Rachel Banham is now a nine-year veteran in the WNBA, having stints with the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun, respectively. Originally drafted by the Sun, Banham played from 2016 through 2019 in Connecticut.
She joined the Minnesota Lynx in 2021, spending three years with them before re-joining the Sun earlier this year.
Moriah Jefferson has been in the league for the same time as Banham. She was drafted by the San Antonio Stars (then Las Vegas Aces), then traded to the Dallas Wings in 2019, before her contract was suspended by the team.
She re-joined the Wings in 2020 and was waived two years later. Jefferson signed with the Lynx in 2022 and then the Phoenix Mercury last year. She was traded by the Mercury to the Sun earlier this year and now is heading to a new team.
