Angel Reese officially left LSU when she was selected seventh overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA draft. Reese is excited to play in the Windy City and team up with South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso. She also wants to replace her "Bayou Barbie" nickname with something appropriate for her new team.
In a tweet, Reese asked her followers for suggestions about a new nickname. She's starting a new chapter in her career, and "Bayou Barbie" is not appropriate for Chicago. The bayou is a common term used to call the state and places in Louisiana.
"I need a new name now that I'm in Chicago lol something cute that is catchy like Bayou Barbie," Reese wrote.
Fans had a lot of suggestions, and here are some of the best:
"Chiraq Barbie"
"Sky High Chi"
"Chi-Town Shawty!"
"Chief Reese"
"Chi Town Barbie"
"Windy City Wonder Woman"
"Southside Barbie"
"Deep Dish Sis"
"Her Royal Skyness"
"Windy City Angel"
Angel Reese had a lot of success as the 'Bayou Barbie'
After two years with the Maryland Terrapins, Angel Reese left home and transferred to LSU. She started referring to herself as the "Bayou Barbie" after a fan in Baton Rouge called her that. Her mother loved it, and they continued to use it.
Reese had a lot of success as the "Bayou Barbie" in two seasons with the Tigers. She won an NCAA championship last year while also being named as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
The 21-year-old forward had one year of eligibility left but decided to leave the Tigers after their loss to Caitlin Clark and Iowa in the Elite 8. She declared for the WNBA draft, where she was drafted seventh overall.

Why did Angel Reese leave LSU?
Angel Reese had an opportunity to help LSU win another championship next season, but she turned it down to turn pro. Reese said after the WNBA draft that she wanted a new challenge and the feeling of being a rookie again.
"Coming back would have been amazing for me, but I wanted it more for myself," Reese said.
"I wanted to start over. I feel like I've been on a high since the national championship. I wanna hit rock bottom. I wanna be a rookie again. I wanna be knocked down by vets. I wanna get up and grow and be a sponge."
