The Atlanta Dream failed to pull off another upset against the Connecticut Sun Sunday, losing 80-67 on the road in Connecticut. With the win, the Sun tied the New York Liberty with the league's best record at 17-4.
DeWanna Bonner was on fire from deep, hitting a career-high seven 3-pointers while finishing with 23 points. Forward Alyssa Thomas was her typical self, pouring in a well-rounded seven points, seven rebounds and nine assists.
Dream guard Allisha Gray did all she could in the loss, scoring 19 points while shooting 7 of 11. She received little help from her teammates, who together were thoroughly outshot by the Sun looking to get revenge from their 78-74 loss on June 28.

Connecticut Sun vs. Atlanta Dream game summary
It was all about DeWanna Bonner on Sunday, whose record-breaking performance was the difference for the Sun. Her first 3-pointer went in less than a minute into the game, and she and the Sun never looked back after taking the lead early.
While Bonner lit up the Dream from long distance, Atlanta never found its groove shooting. They made just four 3-pointers and only two after the first quarter. Gray's 19 points in just 21 minutes were the only positive for the Dream, who benched her when the game was out of reach.
The heavily favored Sun benefited from Tiffany Mitchell's 13 points off the bench, and Alyssa Thomas fell just short of her second straight 10-plus assist game.
Both teams took off in the third quarter, with the Sun dropping 33 points to help stretch their lead and make the game all but over by the start of the fourth. Three of Bonner's seven 3-pointers came in this quarter alone, and although Gray shot 7-for-7 after halftime, it just wasn't enough, with her team trailing 67-49 going into the fourth.
The Dream bench closed the gap slightly in the fourth quarter while both teams rested most of their starters. Gray's teammates outscored the Sun in the final frame, but it was too little and too late for the Dream (7-13). They face the Chicago Sky next on Wednesday.
The Sun look to stretch their win streak to four games, a streak they began after their loss to the Dream two weeks ago.
