Dana Evans finally gets the opportunity to start as a point guard

Dana Evans is in her fourth year in the WNBA. Through all these years, she has never played as a point guard. Now that the Chicago Sky has gone over a complete overhaul from the front desk to the players, Evans voiced her desire to play as a playmaker.

Sky's new coach, Teresa Weatherspoon, had many conversations with Evans before the first training camp started. Evans was happy to have those discussions with his new coach and applauded the positivity she brings to the team.

"I trusted her,” Evans said (h/t Chicago Sun-Times). “I knew she meant business. But, I mean, she really pours into us. I have never had so much communication, positive communication."

Evans is one of the few players who remained at Sky after the franchise turned everything over. She is now a senior player on the squad who commands the locker room and brings a sense of calm to his peers. So, when she voiced her desire to play as a point guard, the coach gave her a green flag.

"She wants it," Weatherspoon said. “As a playmaker, it is important that you lead by example. You have to know exactly what the head coach wants, being an extension of who I am. ... She is fighting, scratching and clawing for us to be better."

Weatherspoon approved Evans of playing as a point guard, granting the veteran her wish. Evans then said she didn't feel any pressure and was relieved to know she would get her opportunity.
