Rookie sensation Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have been on a remarkable run since the resumption of the WNBA. They have caught the attention of the basketball community, turning around a 2-8 start to the season to clinching their first Playoff berth since 2016.

Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, believes that this run from the Fever should be enough to keep the viewership in the WNBA up, even with the NFL season beginning.

Portnoy assuaged the fears that the NFL season will now take center stage on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Honestly only a fool would watch the NFL over Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever right now," Portnoy tweeted. "Its poetry in motion. Its art. Its beauty. Makes me want to cry tears of joy watching them right now."

The NFL started the 2024-25 season on Thursday (Sept. 5). Despite kicking off with only one game, it was still a high-profile clash as it was a rematch of last season's AFC Conference Championship between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.

The Chiefs, looking to be the first team to three-peat in the Super Bowl era, started things off in the right direction with a win (27-20). The Ravens did have a chance to win it with the last play of the game but tight end Isaiah Likely's supposed game-tying touchdown was waved off after his toe went out of bounds.

Meanwhile, the WNBA season is in the final stretch before the Playoffs. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever only have five games left in their schedule before the Playoffs where they will enter underdogs.

The final day of the 2024 WNBA regular season is on Sept. 19 with the Playoffs scheduled to begin on Sept. 22.

Caitlin Clark sets Indiana Fever record for most three-pointers made in a season

Caitlin Clark has had a stellar rookie season wherein she's already broken and set some records, and she isn't done yet.

During the Fever's game against the Minnesota Lynx (Sept. 6), Clark broke yet another record. This time, she set the Fever's franchise record for most three-pointers made in a season, 103.

Her record-setting shot came late in the first quarter of the game. Clark took the ball up the court, came off a screen, and showed off some handles before pulling up for a three with Bridget Carleton crowding her. Despite Carleton's good defense, Clark sank her three-pointer.

This also happened to be Caitlin Clark's first three-pointer of the game. She went on to make four more throughout the game but it wasn't enough to elevate the Fever to the victory. The Lynx prevailed, winning by 11 points (99-88).
