The WNBA has come a long way over the past couple of years. Not so long ago, only the top players, such as Sue Bird, were widely recognized. Now, girls like A'Ja Wilson and Dearica Hamby have also made a big name for themselves among non-WNBA fans, and the league is finally getting its rightful recognition.

Of course, a lot of that has had to do with rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, but it goes beyond that.

Sabrina Ionescu also deserves some credit for showing that women could shoot as well as men, holding her own in a three-point shooting competition against Stephen Curry, who's considered to be the greatest shooter of all time, all while using an NBA regulation basketball.

Needless to say, that wasn't much of a surprise for a WNBA star like Hamby, who just admitted that she's also beaten several of her NBA counterparts.

“I play against NBA guys all the time, and I’ve beat a few, and they’re like, oh sh*t, put an address on," Hamby said on "Run It Back."
"There's a lot of respect between WNBA players and NBA players that the outside world, so to say, I guess doesn't feel or—and so I think that (the contest) was a way for people to be like, 'Oh, okay, Sabrina's good,' and Steph is obviously good, but to see her compete and compete at a high level and keep it close, whatever, I loved it," she added.

Dearica Hamby talks about the 'hard' part of the WNBA expansion draft

The WNBA is growing, and with the Golden State Valkyries set to debut and multiple players set to take their talents somewhere else, Hamby reminded the fans that the players also have lives and feelings, urging everybody to keep that into consideration when talking about that:

"It’s a big day in our league today… while exciting, can be hard for players as everyone is finding out in real time… and probably will be different emotions to process. Please keep that into consideration.. "

It's nice to see that the women's game is finally getting recognition, attention, and money. The WNBA spent a lot of time surviving, and now it's finally time they get to thriving.
