Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith had a cold shoulder moment after the Phoneix Mercury took out the Seattle Storm at the Footprint Center. Mercury won the contest with a final score of 87-78.
The official account of the WNBA uploaded a video of the stars from both teams greeting each other after the game.
Taurasi and Diggins-Smith can be seen at the very beginning of the clip. The former has a stoic expression as she goes right past the Storm's point guard. Diggins-Smith's expression was not visible as Taurasi avoided her.
The fans were quick to notice the cold moment shared between the two players and highlighted it in the comments section of the Instagram post. One fan aired his feelings on the Taurasi-Smith interaction.
"Taurasi and Diggins-Smith still got beef, they avoided each other like the plague," @@troydwilliams said.
Other fans joined in the fray to comment on the apparent beef between the former teammates.
"This DT beef and diggins is crazy!!! Like why," @ashley206 said.
"DT blew pass Diggins like she wasn’t there," @ot.tega said.
"DT. passed Diggins like she a ghost damn," @allt_hingzent said.
While most of the fans' comments highlighted the beef between the two stars, some fans blamed Taurasi for not acting maturely.
"DT. Still acting like a child. BG letting Skylar know we still good," @dreadhed11 said.
"Diana Taurasi is 42 years old and still acting like a petulant child with Skylar Diggins-Smith.. and yet she was chosen (handed a spot) to represent the country in the upcoming Olympics," @rioisthetrio said.
Brittney Grinner and Kahleah Cooper were the heroes of the night leading the scoring charts with 28 and 30 points respectively. Taurasi and Diggins-Smith both scored 13 and 14 points, respectively.
What happened between Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith?
The feud between Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith dates back to May 12, 2022, when the two stars got into an altercation on the bench. They had to be eventually separated from each other.
Diggins-Smith was still in the Phoenix Mercury at the time and sat out for the next two games after feuding with Taurasi. The reason for the altercation between the teammates is still unknown as neither of them commented on it.
However, according to heavy.com, things got bad between Diggins-Smith and the Mercury franchise as a whole when she went on maternity leave to have her second child.
The point guard claimed that during her leave, she was stripped away from the training facilities, massage therapists, chiropractors, chefs, nutritionist accessibility, etc.
Diggins-Smith left Mercury as a free agent in 2022 and joined the Seattle Storm in February this year. Later on, in an interview, when Taurasi was asked about her thoughts on Diggins-Smith's return to Mercury, she refused to answer and asked for the 'next question'.
