Caitlin Clark took the WNBA by storm in her rookie season with the Indiana Fever. A video clip of her interview when she was invited to trial for Team USA U-16 has been trending on the internet.
The interview, which was shared by X user @Sticks2Mini2rs, took place on December 28, 2017, following a game against the Holy Angels squad while she was a member of Dowling Catholic High School's roster in Iowa. She shared her thoughts after knowing she was called up for Team USA squad.
"It was crazy. I mean, at first, I didn't really know what it was ... I went out and tried out and made the team and it's just it was unbelievable. It's an amazing experience," Clark said.
Clark's performance in the WNBA last season prompted calls for her to be a member of Team USA in the Paris Olympics. However, she did not receive the call and had to settle for remaining back to practice with the Indiana Fever.
That decision did favor Caitlin Clark and the Fever as after the Olympics break, they turned around their season, surging up the WNBA standings, and qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Although the Fever didn't make it past the Connecticut Suns in the playoffs, Clark ended her debut season on high. She won the WNBA Rookie of the Year and was selected in the WNBA All-Team First Team.
