Connecticut Sun guard DiJonai Carrington voiced her feelings about teammate Veronica Burton as the team highlighted Burton’s standout moments from the season. The 2024 WNBA season marked Burton’s debut with the Sun following two years with the Dallas Wings, who drafted her as the seventh pick in 2022.

This season, Burton achieved a personal best, averaging 3.1 points per game, along with 1.9 assists and 1.4 rebounds. In the playoffs, she elevated her scoring to 4.9 ppg, averaging 19.3 minutes per contest.
DiJonai Carrington wrapped up an impressive season, earning the league’s Most Improved Player award.
In her rookie year, Carrington averaged 2.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg and 0.5 apg, mostly coming off the bench and starting only once.
Her stats climbed to 6.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg and 1.1 apg in her second season, progressing further in 2023 to 8.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg and 1.3 apg, earning her the runner-up position for the Sixth Player of the Year award.
This season, she averaged 12.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 1.6 apg, playing a vital role in leading the Sun to the playoffs, where they ousted Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever in the first round.

DiJonai Carrington is set to compete in the Unrivaled Basketball League, a 3-on-3 women’s league founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. It will launch on Jan. 17, 2025, in Miami. She was the 19th player announced by the league.
The league will feature teams such as the Laces, Lunar Owls, Mist, Rose, Phantom and Vinyl, and aims to become the most lucrative women’s professional sports league to date.
Carrington is joined by one other Sun player, Marina Mabrey, a midseason acquisition who was instrumental in the team’s playoff push.
Since being traded from the Chicago Sky in July, Mabrey has been a critical player for the Sun, averaging 14.9 ppg, 3.3 apg and 3.5 rpg, with a 42.4% 3-point shooting rate in just 27 minutes per game. She contributed to the Sun’s 28-12 record, the third best in the league.
