It's been two months since her WNBA debut and Angel Reese remains a hot topic around the league. The Chicago Sky rookie is having a terrific season, setting a new record for the most consecutive double-doubles in a single campaign with 15. She has become the face of her franchise thanks to her performances.
Reese's fans are always hyping her up, but her name has transcended the WNBA and is now brought up in rap songs.
Rapper Lil Durk is set to release a song with YTB Fatt, where he gives props to Angel Reese. A recent video where Durk and Fatt are in a gas station shows that the Chicago rapper sent a shoutout to the Sky star.
"Courtside, won a Sky game; 100 on me, telling Angel Reese to shoot," the pair said during their music video.
Reese reacted to the video on social media, sending a message to the rapper, agreeing that people love to watch the Sky.
"everybody love a good courtside SKY gameeee😇," Reese wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rappers are used to mentioning male basketball or football players in their songs. This shows how well Reese has performed and how high people are on her during her first season with the Sky.
The young forward has become a strong force in the WNBA in her very first season. She looks like a favorite to take home the Rookie of the Year award at the end of the season.
NFL star drops intriguing idea for Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark and ROY award
The WNBA is about to go into a break for the Olympic Games and as of right now, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are the clear favorites to win the 2024 Rookie of the Year award. This conversation is polarizing for WNBA fans, but one NFL star believes there should be two winners this year.
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett shared his opinion on this conversation, suggesting that both Clark and Reese should win the award.
"Can we do a co? That's been done before," Garrett said in a street interview with Heavy Sports.
“I mean, Reese has been playing well with her streak of double-doubles," he said. "But Caitlin has been putting up great numbers as a rookie as well. Honestly, great numbers for just — in general.”
This is an intriguing idea for the league, but if the Fever keeps drifting away from the Sky in the standings, Clark will have the upper hand at the end of the campaign.
