Longtime sports journalist Christine Brennan retained her credentials after the WNBPA asked the league to remove it following an interaction with DiJonai Carrington. Fans recently poked fun at Brennan's detractors after a reporter asked Connecticut Sun players about Napheesa Collier after Game 5 of their semifinal matchup.

During the postgame press conference, a reporter asked Brionna Jones and DeWanna Bonner about Collier's performance throughout the series. Bonner had nothing but praise for the 2024 MVP runner-up, who led the Minnesota Lynx back to the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2017.

One fan noticed how there was no outrage from players, unlike when Brennan asked Carrington about Caitlin Clark last month. The WNBPA went out of its way back then to support Carrington and even blasted the veteran journalist for how she's trying to portray the Sun guard.

"Another example of a reporter asking the losing team, about a player on the winning team. Credit to DB for handling it with class. Hmmmm…," the fan tweeted.

More fans piled on to criticize the players' union for how it reacted to Christine Brennan's question if DiJonai Carrington poked Caitlin Clark in the eye intentionally.

"So wait yank this reporter's credential or…?" a fan asked.
"This is a question asked after every nba game lol. Players in the W get in their feelings for some weird reason tho," one fan responded.

"Hhmmm, reporters are not allowed to ask team weakness by referencing opponent great player," another fan opined.

The WNBPA was called out by many reporters for their statement regarding Christine Brennan, who received plenty of support from her peers.

"Bonner always does a good job of answering questions. The league really should consider media and social media training for the players. It’s a learned skill," a fan suggested.
"The wnba's backbone is supposed to be lifting up other women regardless of outcome. So I don't see anything wrong with the question. What is wrong is when other players are asked about a certain someone they don't want to hear it," one fan observed.

"why is it a big deal in WNBA to ask a loosing team about the opposing player.. it happens in the nba and other leagues. i don’t get it. yes, good answer by DB," one fan said.
"Seriously?!? Have you all EVER watched any other sports pressers?? This is not new. This is very common. C’mon now. Take the bubble wrap off the W," another fan added.

"I don't see anything wrong I think we are cutting The WNBA too much Slack! watch Mens Basketball and there are presses they get asked worst questions, its Basketball And If the W want to grow they're gonna have to learn to deal with everything that comes with the attention," another fan remarked.

Fans argued that one of the things WNBA players must continue to adjust to is the added eyeballs to the product. They wanted the league to grow and now it's here. It comes with a lot of positives, but there are also a lot of negatives, and they need to learn to deal with them.

Did something happen between Christine Brennan and DeWanna Bonner?

There were reports about Christine Brennan filing a complaint following a confrontation with DeWanna Bonner on Sunday. Brennan has confirmed that there was no complaint filed to the WNBA, but there was an exchange with Bonner.

Brennan didn't specify what happened but it certainly made headlines. There's some form of history there considering Bonner is teammates with DiJonai Carrington. Bonner also had some feisty moments with Caitlin Clark during their first-round series.
