Fans reacted as a video of basketball legend Cheryl Miller sharing her emotional interaction with Caitlin Clark early in the season resurfaced on social media. Fans were happy to see it again, as Miller was one of the few former stars to support Clark and didn't want to see her fail.

On the "Breakthrough Chronicles" with Kevin Ray in July, Miller revealed how relieved Clark was following the Indiana Fever's first win of the season. She also shared the 22-year-old rookie's response to someone finally giving her the support she needed at the time.

"I gave her the biggest hug that I could and when she saw me she was like, 'Oh man, finally someone who's on my side.' She was getting hit with everything left and right.
"I just said, 'I'm so proud of you. savor this, use this as a formula, but keep being you. No matter what, keep being you,'" Miller said.

Fans are happy to see that Caitlin Clark received support from a legend, given how some past and current players take shots at the Indiana Fever star. They appreciate Cheryl Miller's gesture and how it positively affected Clark.

"Love this. I'm sure it meant the world to her because it was genuine," a fan wrote.
"Cheryl was a positive for CC," one fan replied.
"Thank you so much Cheryl Miller for seeing who CC really is. Not another WNBA power who would shun CC," another fan commented.

Cheryl Miller served as Caitlin Clark's coach at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game, leading Team WNBA to a win over Team USA.

"Caitlin will never speak about how difficult it really was/is. ... I'm so glad that Cheryl really saw her and was there for her," a fan claimed.
"People really don't understand this. Fans are using her name to spread hate, and the media and players are using her name to blame her for it," one fan responded.
"Please be the new Fever coach!," another fan requested.

While there's no indication of coach Christie Sides' job being in jeopardy, Miller was in charge of the Phoenix Mercury from 1997 to 2000. She led them to the playoffs all four years she was there, including a WNBA Finals appearance in 1998.

After a year with Iowa and the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark is happy to be "out of the spotlight" following her team's exit in the 2024 WNBA playoffs. The end of her rookie season has finally set in on Clark, who said in her exit interview on Thursday that she's going to enjoy her vacation.

"I don't know what I'm going to really do (but) it's going to be nice though," Clark said (8:43).
"I think getting out of the spotlight and just getting to live my life and do things that I want to do. Not have to sit in like, I love talking to all of you, but it's going to be nice to not have to sit in front of a microphone multiple times a week. I really appreciate all of you, but it will be nice to kind of get away and relax for a little bit."
