Fans were critical of A'ja Wilson's rejection of lowering the rim in the WNBA, a proposal made by Shaquille O'Neal on multiple occasions. Wilson, the reigning MVP, was not a fan of the suggestion because it would affect her game and many of her peers.

In an Instagram post on Sunday night, O'Neal doubled down on his take and further explained that he wants WNBA players to earn more money. If fans want to see the rim lower to create more excitement, the league should do it because the more people watching means more income for players.

"60% of the fan said Dunking their favorite thing. The WNBA has none of that. So they make much less money. Just trying to get you that 300 million dollars you deserve @aja22wilson #shaqwbnacommisioner . Love y'all @wnba," O'Neal wrote.

Shaquille O'Neal even suggested experimenting on next year's WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis. But since the idea of lowering the rim is not popular among WNBA players, fans are baffled as to why A'ja Wilson and the rest of the league are not listening to demands.

"WNBA players always mad at what will bring them more viewers. A business that has never made profit for NBA. Gotta start making changes," a fan wrote.
"The ball is already smaller why can't the rims be lower?" one fan asked.
"He isn't trying to insult anyone. He's suggesting making it more fun for fans to watch," another fan opined.

Some fans couldn't believe that WNBA players like A'ja Wilson were rejecting the idea without even trying. Some said the league is already using a smaller ball and closer 3-point shot, so it might not be terrible to consider it and experiment.

"Complain 'bout not enough money as if it's gonna magically come from somewhere other than fans," a fan replied.
"I mean they have a women's ball. Why not a women's rim? Makes sense to me," another fan commented.
"They have a smaller ball, smaller court, shorter 3 point line, shorter games, shorter seasons, and they want to have the same size hoop as the men?" one fan remarked.

In an appearance on The Roommates Show with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, A'ja Wilson explained why she's against lowering the rim. Wilson pointed out that if the rim gets changed, all of their shots will get altered. They will need to make the necessary adjustments and some may not even get used to it.

"That could change all of our shots. Do y'all not understand that?" Wilson said.

While it's easy to make suggestions, the changes will need to be studied carefully. And if it gets implemented, it will likely trickle down to women's college basketball and even in high school.
