Indiana Fever fans had a lot to say after the team's official X (formerly Twitter) account seemingly shaded DiJonai Carrington while celebrating Aliyah Boston's remarkable feat. The forward finished the 2024 WNBA season in the top 10 of shot blockers with 1.2 per game.
"n🚫pe, not today! Aliyah Boston finished top 10 in blocks per game in back-to-back seasons," they captioned the post.
What made this situation more intriguing was the fact that they picked a block against Connecticut Sun star DiJonai Carrington to celebrate the milestone. Plenty of fans noticed this and reacted to the selection, with some pumping the post up.
"Admin low-key shading here," one fan wrote.
"Dijonai fans crying. I love it. I FEAST ON YOUR TEARS PEASANTS," another fan said.
"Love this animation… fever admin is on 🔥," another fan said.
Others criticized Carrington for her actions during the season, calling her dirty and even posting a video of the actual play where Boston denied her.
"People butthurt that cartoon is showing Dijonai getting owned and calling it “nasty” but Dijonai is a dirty AF player who poked CC in the eye and whether she poked was intentional or not, she mocked the eye pock incident with teammate Mayberry. Lmao Dijonai is the nasty one," one fan wrote.
Aliyah Boston, DiJonai Carrington to suit up for first Unrivaled season
This block will not be the last time fans see Aliyah Boston and DiJonai Carrington clash on the court. Before they return for another WNBA season in May, both players will take their talents to Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 league co-founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.
Boston was selected to play Team Vinyl and will share touches with Arike Ogunbowale, Rhyne Howard, Jordin Canada, Rae Burrell and Dearica Hamby. Upon learning about her selection, Boston shared a three-word message on Instagram.
"Let's get it 🔥🔥," Boston captioned a story.
As for Carrington, she will be coached by Phil Handy, one of the most respected coaches in the world of basketball. Similarly, she posted a message sharing her excitement about participating in the first season of this league.
"MISTTTTTT🩵🩵🩵 oohhhh weeee🤭 and we get to learn from the GREAT @94feetofgame!!! yup yup yup. 🤝🏽 @Unrivaledwbb," Carrington tweeted last week.
The Sun star will join forces with Breanna Stewart, Jewell Lloyd, Courtney Vandersloot, Rickea Jakcon and Aaliyah Edwards. This competition is an intriguing project that could be a major hit.
