Former WNBA player Val Whiting was surprised when she found out that Angel Reese had blocked her on X, formerly known as Twitter. Whiting has been a vocal supporter and critic of Reese, as well as Caitlin Clark, so it came as a shock to her on Tuesday night.

In a post on X, the former Detroit Shock player shared a screenshot of Reese blocking her on the social media platform. She was flabbergasted because she didn't have an explanation for why the Chicago Sky star would do such a thing to her.

"Uh what's going on? Why would Angel Reese block me? I've battled on this app for her," Whiting tweeted.

Some fans offered an explanation why Angel Reese could have blocked Val Whiting on X. One thinks it's due to Whiting's criticism of the Chicago Sky forward, who had posted her third consecutive game with at least 20 rebounds.

However, people are still criticizing Reese's shot selection and finishing at the rim, as well as stat padding her rebounds. Others also believe that the Sky's effort to minimize the hate for Reese on X was also the cause of Whiting's ban.

According to a statement from the team, the Sky are using artificial intelligence to block accounts that harass their players like Reese, Chennedy Carter, Isabelle Harrison and Brianna Turner.

"We want to expand the possibilities of how 'The Net' can support female athletes and by adding a tech component fueled by AI.
"We are helping players decide which social media messages they see. Importantly, we are also working to flood players' feeds with positive messages. We think this initiative has great potential for women in sport across and even beyond the WNBA," BarkleyOKRP EVP Head of Client Experience Betsy Ross said.

It's unclear if Angel Reese or the Chicago Sky will unblock Val Whiting's account. Whiting has been fair in her criticism and praise of both Reese and Caitlin Clark. She has drawn the ire of both players' fanbases on social media as well.

Angel Reese to launch her own podcast

Despite her busy schedule as a WNBA player and her upcoming stint with the Unrivaled League this offseason, Angel Reese announced the launch of her podcast. She will be the latest player to enter the booming industry with help from The Big Podcast Network of Playmaker HQ.

The title of Reese's podcast is "Unapologetically Angel," which will focus on basketball, fashion and entertainment. She wants it to be as authentic as possible, explaining her goal in an interview with Eddie Gonzalez of Complex Sports.

"It’s another way for me to connect with my fans and reach new audiences I wouldn’t necessarily have before. I can't wait to share a different side with listeners and have them come on this ride with me," Reese said.

Reese is already looking forward to having guests on her podcast and will try to get her celebrity friends like Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B and Latto.
